  • Aga Khan Foundation
    Is a non-denominational, international development agency established by the Aga Khan in 1967. Its mission is to develop and promote creative solutions to problems that impede social development, primarily in Asia and East Africa. The Aga Khan Foundation has branches and independent affiliates in 12 countries. Most Foundation grants are made to grassroots organisations.
  • Aga Khan Trust for Culture (AKTC)
    A sub-agency of the Aga Khan Development Network. The Aga Khan Trust for Culture's activities, in the field of architecture, conservation, restoration, and architectural education, target the improvement of built environments in societies where Muslims have a significant presence. "Buildings and public spaces are physical manifestations of culture in societies, past, and present. They represent human endeavours that can enhance the quality of life, foster self-understanding and community values, and expand opportunities for economic and social development into the future."
  • AT&T Foundation
    A "Commitment to Community", invests globally in undertakings that address a wide range of public concerns; education, Arts and Culture, Civic & Community Service. The foundation serves the needs of people in communities where AT&T has a significant business presence around the world and invests in initiatives that use technology in inventive ways.
  • Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA)
    Facilitates the efforts of the people of developing countries to achieve self-sustainable economic and social development in accordance with their needs and environment, by cooperating with them in developing activities.
  • Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE)
    Is an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. CIPE assists other countries, through their private sectors, to enhance democracy and private enterprise as a basis for prosperity and individual freedom.
  • Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC)
    Sponsors research fellowships programs for pre-doctoral and senior scholars.
  • David and Lucile Packard Foundation
    one of the largest US foundations since 1996, created in 1964 by David Packard (1912-1996), co-founder of the Hewlett-Packard Company, and his wife, Lucile Salter Packard (1914-1987). Now in its thirty-second year the Foundation will continue to support universities, national institutions, community groups, youth agencies, family planning centers, and hospitals.

  • Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation
    is a private, non-profit, cultural institution committed to the ideas and values of social democracy and of the labour movement. The foundation promotes international development cooperation and provides advisory services in economic and social development, socio-political education and information, the media and communication.

    is a public corporation created by the Canadian government to help communities in the developing world find solutions to social, economic, and environmental problems through research.
  • International Republican Institute (IRI)
    Is dedicated to advancing democracy worldwide. IRI intiates a wide range of programs to promote and strengthen the evolution of political parties and the democratic institutions that advocate self-determination, individual rights, the rule of law and free-market economic systems.
  • Jean-Jaurès Foundation
    is associated with the Socialist Party of France. It was founded in 1992. One of its objective is to assist emerging democracies in the areas of good governance, human rights and social justice.
  • John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation
    Is dedicated to helping groups and individuals foster lasting improvement in the human condition. The Foundation seeks the development of healthy individuals and effective communities; peace within and among nations; responsible choices about human reproduction; and a global ecosystem capable of supporting healthy human societies. The Foundation pursues this mission by supporting research, policy development, dissemination, education and training, and practice.
  • National Endowment for Democracy (NED)
    Is a private, nonprofit, grant-making organization created in 1983 to strengthen democratic institutions around the world.   • National Science Foundation
    An independent agency of the U.S. Government, with the mission to support scientific and engineering research and to foster the interchange of scientific information among scientists in the United States and other countries.
  • New Israel Fund
    A joint effort of Israelis, North Americans and Europeans, the Fund works to safeguard civil and human rights, promote Jewish-Arab coexistence, advance the status of women, foster tolerance and religious pluralism, bridge social and economic gaps, pursue environmental justice, and encourage government accountability.

  • Rockefeller Foundation
    Is a philanthropic organization endowed by John D. Rockefeller and chartered in 1913 for the well-being of people throughout the world.     Soros foundations consist of national foundations in 29 countries, all sharing the the common goal of transforming closed societies into open ones and protecting and expanding the values of existing open societies.
  • Soros Foundations Network
    Is created and funded by the philanthropist George Soros and linked together in an informal network called the Soros foundations network. At the heart of this network is a group of autonomous organizations known as "national foundations" operating in 31 countries. All of these foundations share the common mission of supporting the development of open society.

  • Stanley Foundation
    Is a nonpartisan private operating foundation. It does not make grants but is an excellent source of substantive reports on foreign policy and various public issues. The Foundation sponsors a weekly radio program Common Ground which delivers insight and analysis into world events, World Press Review, a monthly magazine which reprints articles containing news and views from around the world, and the Courier Online, a newsletter which contains articles on topics and themes that are the focus of foundation programming.
  • The Friedrich Naumann Foundation
    is the foundation for liberal politics in the German Federal Republic committed to the principle of individual freedom in all sectors of society in united Germany and with partners overseas.
  • The Konrad Adenauer Foundation
    offers political education, conducts scientific fact-finding research for political projects, grants scholarships to gifted individuals, researches the history of Christian Democracy, and supports and encourages European unification, international understanding, and development-policy cooperation. It was named after Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Konrad Adenauer 1949 - 1963.
