- African Studies Association (ASA)
The African Studies Association (ASA) was founded in 1957 as a nonprofit organization open to all individuals and institutions interested in African affairs. Its mission is to bring together people with a scholarly and professional interest in Africa.
- American Association for Teachers of Arabic (AATA)
The American Association of Teachers of Arabic (AATA) aims to facilitate communication and cooperation between teachers of Arabic and to promote study, criticism, research and instruction in the field of Arabic language pedagogy, Arabic linguistics and Arabic literature. See also Journal of the American Association of Teachers of Arabic.
- American Institute for Maghreb Studies (AIMS)
The American Institute for Maghrib Studies was founded in 1984 to promote the systematic study of North Africa among interested scholars, specialists, students, and others concerned with the region.
- Association française pour l'étude du monde Arabe et musulman (AFEMAM)
The French Association for the Study of the Arab and Muslim region, established in 1985, has as its object the study of the geographic and cultural arena since pre-Islamic times.
- Association for Middle East Women's Studies (AMEWS)
is a private, non-profit, non-political, international organization of scholars and other persons interested in the study of women in the Middle East. The objectives of AMEWS are to advance the study of women in the Middle East.
- British Society for Middle Eastern Studies (BRISMES)
The British Society for Middle Eastern Studies (BRISMES) was established in 1973 to encourage and promote the study of the Middle East in the United Kingdom. It brings together teachers, researchers, students, diplomats, journalists and others who deal professionally with the Middle East. Membership is open to all the above, regardless of nationality.
- The Canadian Committee of the Middle East Studies of North America (CANNES)
was established in 1995 to encourage communication among scholars of Middle Eastern studies resident in Canada,and to further the development of joint projects and conference participation on the part of its membership. See also the Inter-University Consortium for Arab Studies (ICAS), a collaborative project of McGill University and the Université de Montréal.
- German Association for Middle Eastern Studies (DAVO) - German Association for Contemporary Research and Documentation in the Middle East.
- European Association for Middle East Studies (EURASMES)
The European Association for Middle East Studies is the organizer of the European network of Middle Eastern Studies, an academic exchange of information concerning research on the Middle East. Eurames was formed in 1990 as an attempt to bring European scholars on the Middle East work closer together. - The International Association of Middle Eastern Studies (IAMES) - L'Association Internationale pour les Etudes du Moyen-Orient.
- The Institute of Druze Studies (IDS) is an international academic non-profit organization. The IDS board of directors includes members from over 25 universities and various other research institutions in North America, Europe, and the Middle East. The Institute's mission is to: Provide information on Druze history, society, and faith, encourage research on historical and contemporary Druze communities and to promote academic discourse about the Druzes and other imigrant religious communities.
- Institute for Advanced Study - Berlin - Modernity and Islam.
- Institute of Turkish Studies (ITS) - Washington. Supports and encourages the development of Turkish Studies in American higher education through an annual grant program.
- Lebanese Studies Association (LSA)
a private, non-profit, non-political organization of scholars and other persons interested in Lebanese studies. SLA promotes international scholarly cooperation among persons and organizations concerned with Lebanese Studies, sponsors academic panels and conferences pertaining to Lebanese studies. SLA also publishes a Newsletter .
- Middle East Medievalists (MEM)
Middle East Medievalists (MEM) is a professional non-profit association of scholars interested in the study of the Islamic lands of the Middle East during the medieval period (defined roughly as 500-1500 C.E.) MEM, established on 15 November 1989, publishes Al-`Usur al-Wusta, The Bulletin of Middle East Medievalist, twice yearly (April and October).
- Middle East Librarians Associations (MELA)
The Middle East Librarians' Association is a private, non-profit, non-political organization of librarians and others interested in those aspects of librarianship which support the study of or dissemination of information about the Middle East. The area include countries from Morocco through Pakistan as well as other areas formerly included in the Arab, Ottoman, or Mughal empires. The purpose of the Middle East Librarians' Association is to facilitate communication among members through meetings and publications; to improve the quality of area librarianship through the development of standards for the profession and education of Middle East library specialists.
- Middle East Outreach Council (MEOC)
The Middle East Outreach Council, established in 1981, is a non-profit organization working to increase public knowledge of the people, place and culture of the Middle East.
- Middle Studies Association of North American (MESA)
MESA is a nonprofit, non-political organization of scholars and other persons interested in the study of the Middle East, North Africa and the Islamic world. Publishes the MESA Bulletin.
- Nordic Society for Middle East Studies (SGAS)
The Nordic Society is an independent association for researchers in the Nordic countries who work on the Middle East and Islamic world. It covers all subjects in the humanist and social sciences, from antiquity to the present day. Currently, the Society has 250 members in the four countries of Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Norway.
- Society for Armenian Studies (SAS)
The aims of the Society for Armenian Studies are to promote the study of Armenian culture and society, including history, language, literature, and social, political, and economic questions; to facilitate the exchange of scholarly information pertaining to Armenian studies around the world; and to sponsor panels and conferences on Armenian studies.
- Society for Iranian Studies (SIS)
The Society of Iranian Studies was founded in 1967 as a professional society to support and promote the field of Iranian Studies at the international level. SIS publishes the journal Iranian Studies and a Newsletter. The Society convenes periodic conferences, organizes special session at the annual MESA meetings, and awards the Saidi-Sirjani Memorial Book Award on an annual basis.
- Sudan Studies Association (SSA)
The Sudan Studies Association (SSA) is an independent professional society founded in the United States in 1981 is open to scholars, teachers, students, and others with interest in the Sudan. The Association promotes Sudanese studies and scholarship.
- Turkish Studies Association (TSA)
The Turkish Studies Association, was established in 1971 as a private, non-profit, non-political organization of persons interested in Turkish and Ottoman studies. The objectives of TSA are to promote high standards of scholarship and instruction; to facilitate communication among its members through meetings and written exchanges of information; and to promote international, scholarly cooperation among persons and organizations concerned with Turkish and Ottoman studies.
