AISC Associate Centers

  1. Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies (ACPSS) [ * ]
    The Al Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies (ACPSS) was established in 1968 as an independent research unit functioning within the framework of the Al-Ahram Foundation. The ACPSS undertakes multidisciplinary research dealing with regional and international developments, as well as Egyptian strategic, political, economic, and social affairs, and publishes many of its papers online.

    Al-Urdun Al-Jadid Research Center is an independent Jordanian scientific organization engaged in research and studies as well as organizing seminars for discussion, dialogue, training, consultations and the exchange of expertise. The mission of the UJRC is to promote democratic culture in Jordan by deepening knowledge of civil political organizations, enhancing the democratic practices and encouraging citizens, particularly women and youth, to be involved in political and social life. Al-Urdun Al-Jadid Research Center is currently publishing a newsletter on Civil Society, Democracy and Sustainable Development, in Arabic only.

  3. The Center for Lebanese Studies (CLS)
    The Centre for Lebanese Studies is an independent academic research institution. It was founded in 1984 and is affiliated to the Middle East Centre at St. Antony's College, Oxford. CLS acts as a repository of most academic information and documents relating to Lebanon. The Centre initiates and publishes research papers and books on relevant historical, economic, political, sociological and cultural issues affecting Lebanon and houses most of the academic information and documents relating to Lebanon.
  4. The Center for Strategic Studies (CSS)
    The Center for Strategic Studies (CSS) is an academic unit of the University of Jordan concerned mainly with research in the fields of regional conflicts, international relations and security. CSS is engaged in activities that include planning and research in such new fields as democracy, political pluralism, development, the economy and the environment.
  5. Faculty of Economic and Political Science (FEPS)
    The Faculty of Economic and Political Science (FEPS) of Cairo University was founded in 1960. FEPS has five academic departments: Economics, Political Science, Statistics, Public Administration and Computational Socio-Sciences and Informations Systems, and six research centers, the Center for Political Economic and Financial Research Studies, the Center for Information and Computing Systems, the Center for Asian Studies, the Center for Developing Countries Studies, and the Public Administration and Consultation Center. FEPSs academic department and research centers will soon provide online access to academic related information and research publications.
  6. The Ibn Khaldoun Center for Development Studies (ICDS)
    The Ibn Khaldoun Center for Development Studies is a Cairo-based private professional research organization created in 1988. The main objective of the Center is to advance applied social sciences relating to Egypt, the Arab World and the Third World. The Center is particularly engaged in issues of democratization and civil society. The Center publishes a monthly magazine Civil Society, recent issues of which are available online.

  7. Institute for Palestine Studies (IPS)
    IPS promotes research, analysis, and documentation on the Arab-Israeli conflict and its peaceful resolution. IPS publishes quarterlies in three languages: Journal of Palestine Studies (in English), Majallat al-Dirasat al-Filastiniyah (in Arabic), and Revue d'Etudes Palestiniennes (in French).
  8. Jerusalem Media & Communication Center (JMCC)
    The Jerusalem Media & Communication Center (JMCC) provides information on events in the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) and the Gaza Strip. JMCC's Jerusalem and Gaza offices provide a wide range of services to journalists, researchers, international agencies, individuals and organizations interested in obtaining reliable information on the Palestinian territory.
  9. The Jerusalem Quarterly File (JQF)
    The Jerusalem Quarterly File (JQF) is published by the Institute of Jerusalem Studies (IJS), a research institute focused on the city of Jerusalem, refugees and final status issues.
  10. Lebanese Association for Educational Studies (LAES)
    The Lebanese Association for Educational Studies (LAES) was established in 1995 as an independent association. The mission of LAES is to advance and disseminate educational knowledge, to support educational research community in Lebanon, and to interact with similar associations in the Arab countries and the world. LAES publishes a newsletter and educational series.
  11. Lebanese Association of Women Researchers (LAWR)
    The Lebanese Association of Women Researchers was founded in 1993. The Association brings together women in research, encourages young women researchers, and provides a setting for cultural and scientific exchanges. LAWR publishes a research yearbook "Bahithat", coordinates workshops monthly, and organizes debates and conferences.
  12. The Lebanese Center for Policy Studies (LCPS) [ * ]
    The Lebanese Center for Policy Studies (LCPS) is an independent, non-profit research institute based in Beirut. It is concerned with issues of political, social, and economic development. LCPS publishes studies and organizes conferences that analyze and aim to improve public policy. It also publishes extensive materials online to increase public awareness of critical policy issues.
  13. The Palestine Academic Society for the Study of International Affairs (PASSIA)
    The Palestine Academic Society for the Study of International Affairs PASSIA is "an Arab non-profit institution located in Jerusalem/Al-Quds with a financially and legally independent status. It is not affiliated with any government, political party or organization. PASSIA seeks to present the Palestinian Question in its national, Arab and international contexts through academic research, dialogue and publication."   14. The Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PSR)
    The Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PSR) is an independent nonprofit institution and think tank of policy analysis and academic research. PSR was founded with the goal of advancing scholarship and knowledge on immediate issues of concern to Palestinians in three areas: domestic politics and government, strategic analysis and foreign policy, and public opinion polls and survey research. The center engages in several academic and policy analysis activities, organizes and conducts socio-political surveys and public opinion polls on current Palestinian political and social attitudes. The CPRS public opinion polls (1993-2000) conducted at the Center for Palestine Research & Studies, which suspended its work early 2001, are currently available at the PSR's website.
